1. What This Website Is

This private reference site operates independently from every government office. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve documents, conduct official checks, or submit filings for a visitor.

Its content identifies sources such as the Shelby County Sheriff, Iowa District Court, Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation, and Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect to outside search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on an agreement not to:

• Use site content in a hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decision
• Stalk, threaten, or harass another person with information found here
• Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access
• Violate a local, Iowa, or federal law
• Use automated bots or scraping tools against the pages
• Attempt unauthorized access to any system or data

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use information from this site or a linked service to intimidate, discriminate against, threaten, stalk, or harass another person. Such conduct may also be criminal. This restriction is especially important for Iowa Sex Offender Registry information under Iowa Code chapter 692A. Registry records support public safety awareness and do not authorize vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Shelby County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create background checks, credit reports, or any other consumer report. Its advertising partners are not presented as services for job, rental, insurance, or credit screening. Site or linked-tool data must not be used to:

• Set an insurance premium or judge creditworthiness
• Screen a renter or housing applicant
• Make a hiring or termination decision
• Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or public program
• Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally permissible check for a regulated purpose must come from an appropriate official source, such as Iowa DCI where applicable, or an FCRA-compliant screening provider.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Iowa attorney can advise how a Shelby County charge, warrant, conviction, or expungement rule affects a specific situation.

6. No Warranties

All material and functions are offered "as is." No warranty is made that:

A user agrees to indemnify and hold the site harmless from claims, actions, or demands caused by that user's conduct or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Iowa law governs these terms, including applicable provisions of the Iowa Open Records Law in chapter 22 and criminal-history rules in chapter 692 where those laws bear on the official sources discussed. Any dispute concerning site use must be filed in an Iowa court.

14. Severability
